My TfL Santander cycles app stopped accepting my credit card details.

symtoms

When trying to pay for 24hr cycle access the app navigated to a ‘register card details’ page.
The app didn’t accept any of the card details I tried on the page.

fix

Log into the same account on https://tfl.gov.uk/santandercycles
(Re-)register the same card details as in the app
Open the app, take out a 24hr cycle access.
The app will prompt you to enter card details, enter the same ones that you put into the website.
The purchase will succeed
